A reversal of fortune: a leopard that set out to hunt ended up fighting for its own life. The predator was badly injured in an attack by dogs and barely survived. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

The incident reportedly took place in Haridwar, which the report places in India's Himachal Pradesh. The local forest department rescued the seriously injured leopard and is treating it.

Local sources say leopards often raid villages next to the forest, drawn by street dogs. In the same way, a leopard recently entered a dairy farm in Haridwar, but it did not go as planned. A post shared with the video identified the place as Kishanpur village in the Bahadrabad area of Haridwar.

Inside there was not one but two large dogs. As soon as the leopard attacked, a fight broke out between the two sides.

Hearing the snarling of the dogs and the leopard, the dairy farm's owner, Amit Chauhan, came out. He immediately shut the door of the room and informed the forest department.

The viral video shows the leopard overpowered by the two dogs attacking from two sides. Forest officials finally rescued it in a badly wounded state.

Although they look alike, the jaguar, leopard and cheetah are not the same, though many people take them all for "chitabagh". There are a number of differences between them.

The three animals can easily be told apart by the black spots on their fur, and also by their body shape. The jaguar's head is quite large and broad, the leopard's medium-sized, and the cheetah's quite small by comparison.
