Every part of agriculture has been hurt to some degree by the coronavirus. Input prices have risen, and lockdowns and other disruptions have caused crises in supply and markets. Small and medium farmers have borne the brunt, yet some entrepreneurs refuse to despair and are determined to survive.

Khandaker Atiqur Rahman Naeem of Madhupur upazila in Tangail joined the poultry industry four years ago. He is a medium-sized farmer, with 4,300 layer hens.

Naeem is an educated young man who could have done well in any profession. After earning the highest university degree, he did not chase a job but began farming. After small trials with various fruits and crops, he built this poultry farm, where the programme reports that about 95 per cent of the hens are laying every day.
