Bangladesh Railway is running special cattle trains to carry sacrificial animals for Eid-ul-Azha. It was decided to run five cattle trains in all across the eastern and western zones from 12 to 14 June, and today the last train carrying sacrificial animals arrived in Dhaka.

The Cattle Special-2 train arrived at the suburban platform of Kamalapur railway station at 1:20pm on Friday, 14 June.

Sellers were seen bringing cattle in the train's wagons. After the train stopped, the cattle were unloaded and tied up on the platform, to be taken on to different markets in the capital.

Sellers who came on the train said they paid Tk 8,500 per wagon. Some wagons carried one big bull, others three or four cattle.

Arman Sheikh, who came from Jamalpur, said: "I brought one bull. It cost Tk 8,500. I raised it myself. I will ask Tk 4 lakh for it."

Another seller, Shahjan, said: "I brought five cattle in all. I bought them at the local market back home. I trade cattle hoping for a profit. Let's see what price I get."

Earlier, Cattle Special trains 1 and 2 ran from 12 to 14 June to carry animals from the western zone. In the eastern zone, Cattle Special trains 1 and 2 ran on 12 June and Cattle Special train 1 on 13 June.
