The forest department has rescued a python about 10 feet long in Ulipur, Kurigram.
The snake was spotted beside a settlement at Char Phulbari in Buraburi union of the upazila on the morning of Tuesday, 28 July, causing excitement and fear in the area.
Locals said they informed the forest department after seeing the snake in the morning. As the news spread, curious people from nearby areas crowded the spot, and many took photos and videos of the snake and posted them on social media.
Never seen one this big
Locals claimed no python this large had been seen in the area before. The sight of the nearly 10-foot snake frightened women and children.
Kurigram forest department official Sadikur Rahman said: "On receiving the news, a forest department team went to the spot and rescued the python, about 10 feet long. After the necessary health checks, the snake will be handed over to Rangpur Zoo."
He added that the python is a protected wild animal in Bangladesh. If such a snake is seen, people should not panic or harm it but should inform the forest department or the authorities concerned quickly.
