Members of an organisation called Animal Lovers of Patuakhali have rescued two venomous cobras (padma gokhra) in Kuakata, Patuakhali, and released them into the forest department's local protected Lembu forest.

The two snakes were released at midday on Wednesday 9 November in the forest department's Lembu forest on the western part of Kuakata sea beach.

The snakes, 5 feet and 6 feet long, had been rescued at 10pm on Tuesday 8 November from a canvasser (herbal medicine seller) on the footpath at the Alipur fishing port in Kuakata.

Present at the release were Ariful Islam, Khajura beat officer of the Mohipur forest department; Rakayet Ahsan, team leader of the Kalapara branch of Animal Lovers; and Bachchu, Shaon, Baizid and others.
