A sick monkey was rescued in Kuakata, Patuakhali, three months ago. After treatment, it recovered and has now been released into the forest.

The Kuakata Wildlife Nongorkhana (wildlife shelter) released the monkey into the Tengragiri Wildlife Sanctuary (the Fatrar forest) on the afternoon of 2 April (Saturday).

Ruman Imtiaz Tushar, owner of the Kuakata Wildlife Nongorkhana, confirmed this to Jagonews. He said the monkey was rescued sick from the Jalalpur area of the upazila three months ago and had been under treatment for a long time before being released into the Fatrar forest.

KM Bachchu, an environmental activist who works with wildlife, told Jagonews: "We have treated and released 19 wild animals into the forest before this. Not just monkeys: whenever we find any wild animal sick, including snakes, turtles, mongooses and various birds, we bring it to this shelter, treat it and then release it."

Aktaruzzaman, in charge of the Fatrar forest in the Forest Department's Taltali range, told Jagonews that when the shelter brought in the monkey, it was released with the permission of senior Forest Department officials. "It is important for all of us to love wildlife," he said.
