A hawk, described in the report as belonging to a vanishing species, fell ill after fighting a dog over food in Kuakata, Patuakhali. Members of the Kalapara branch of Animal Lovers of Patuakhali rescued the bird after seeing what happened and are treating it.

The hawk was rescued from the Tultoli beel in the municipal town at around noon on Tuesday (7 February). It has some injuries on its left wing.

Ariful Islam Shaon, a member of the Kalapara branch of Animal Lovers of Patuakhali, said the hawk was fighting a dog over food. "Later, with the help of a farmer, we rescued it injured and brought it in. After first aid, the bird will be released into the forest."

Abul Kalam Azad, range officer of the Mohipur forest department, told Jago News that the beat officer had been sent to the spot and arrangements were being made for the bird's release.
