It is now hemanta, late autumn, and a touch of winter has already arrived everywhere, especially in the haor region, where winter has taken hold and thick morning fog blankets the villages. Along with the cold, migratory birds have begun to arrive. Tonmoy Alamgir reports.

With conditions in Siberia turning against them, flocks of birds are flying to Bangladesh. Nature lovers are already crowding into bird shelters to watch them, especially on the wide waters of the haors, where the welcoming surroundings have filled the air with birdsong.

In the afternoon, the lovely sight of flocks of birds adds to the beauty of the haor, and holidaymakers enjoy it to the full. When the bluish autumn sky is reflected in the waves of clear water, it looks like the sea, and the birds' flight and calls add a special charm.

The country has countless haors. Notable among them are Mithamoin haor in Mithamoin, Bangalpara haor in Austagram, Chhatimchar haor in Nikli and Badla haor in Itna, where visitors are enjoying the sight of thousands of birds.

The murmur of birds returning to their nests at dusk is even more appealing, a different kind of nature whose feeling stays fresh in the heart for a long time. So nature lovers should visit the bird-filled haors of Kishoreganj at least once.
