It was late at night and the family members were busy with their own work when an unusual noise came from the courtyard. Looking out, they saw a chilling sight: a huge king cobra and a python locked in a fight. Panic spread through the house and family members ran outside in fear.

Villagers gathered at the scene when they heard the news. After a long rescue operation carried out with the help of the forest department, both reptiles were removed. The video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

The incident happened recently at Gonauli in the Bagaha area of India's Bihar state. The family's house stands directly opposite a forest department range office next to the Valmiki Tiger Reserve. Because it borders dense forest, wild animals often stray into the settlement.

Even so, seeing a king cobra and a python face to face inside the boundary of a home at the same time was something entirely unusual for local people.

Family members first moved to a safe distance and then quickly contacted the forest department and a snake rescue team. As word spread, people from nearby villages crowded to the spot, and many tried to film the rare scene on their mobile phones from a distance. Eyewitnesses said the fight went on for quite some time.

A trained snake rescuer reached the scene and first moved the curious crowd to a safe distance. He then worked very carefully for a long time and rescued both snakes alive. The king cobra and the python were later released safely into nearby forest.

Forest officials said snakes and other wild animals often enter settlements around the Valmiki Tiger Reserve. They advised residents not to panic in such situations or try to catch any animal themselves, and urged them to inform the forest department or trained rescuers quickly if they see a wild animal.
