A huge "koibhol" fish was caught in the net of a Satkhira fisherman in the deep sea. When weighed, it came to 137kg. It was later taken to a Khulna market and sold for more than Tk 1 lakh.

The fish was brought to the Rupsha wholesale fish market in Khulna city on Thursday morning and, after bargaining, sold for Tk 1.05 lakh.

When word spread that such a big fish had arrived, many people crowded in to see it. It was brought to a wholesale depot called Sohan Fish.

When it reached the market, the first bid for the fish was Tk 60,000, but interest among buyers pushed the price up until it finally sold for Tk 1.05 lakh.

The buyer, Md Ramzan Ali Hawladar, said 50 people had bought the fish together, then cut it up and shared it out at the market.

The koibhol was caught in the deep sea by Satkhira fisherman Gobinda Sarkar, using a benti net.
