The forest department has released into the forest a fishing cat rescued from the Badurtoli area of Kalapara municipal town in Patuakhali.

The fishing cat was released at around 3pm on 20 November in the forest next to Kuakata National Park.

According to the forest department, the animal was rescued the previous day on a tip-off. It had been caught in a trap set by people, and is about two years old.

Kalapara upazila forest officer Abdus Salam said the fishing cat was caught at night in a trap set at a house in the Badurtoli area of the municipal town. It was rescued on a tip-off and given treatment, then released into the forest at around 3pm on the instructions of the divisional forest officer.
