Members of the Kalapara team of Animal Lovers of Patuakhali have rescued a venomous banded krait (shankhini) in Kalapara, Patuakhali.

The snake was rescued at noon on Friday, 20 October, from Tegachhia village in the upazila's Mithaganj union.

Rakayet Ahsan, team leader of Animal Lover of Kalapara, said that after being informed in the morning that a banded krait was lying tangled in a net at the house of Md Rasel Kazi in Tegachhia, Mithaganj union, the team went there and rescued it.

He added that a banded krait rescued a day earlier is in the organisation's custody, and the process is under way to hand it over to the Venom Research Centre at Chattogram Medical College Hospital for research.
