A woman named Asiya Begum, 50, has died in Kalai, Joypurhat, after a branch broke off a tree and fell on her while she was collecting mangoes during a storm.

The accident happened on the afternoon of Sunday, 4 June.

Asiya Begum was the wife of Mofazzal Hossain of Matrai village in Kalai upazila. Kalai police station officer-in-charge (OC) S M Moinuddin confirmed the incident to Jago News.

Police said that when the storm began in the afternoon, Asiya Begum went to collect mangoes under the mango tree at her home. A branch broke and fell, injuring her. She was rescued but died on the way to hospital.
