A young man was riding home by motorcycle after finishing business work and having dinner at his maternal aunt's house. On the way, he collided with a jackal and was thrown onto the road, suffering serious injuries. He later died on the way to Dhaka.

The accident happened on the Jashore-Magura highway at Gaidghat in Bandabila union of Jashore's Bagharpara upazila late on Tuesday night (30 June).

The dead man was Mohabbat Hossain, 28, the only son of Saidur Mondal of Rajapur village in Ichhali union of Sadar upazila. He ran a furniture business in front of Khajura Government Shaheed Sirajuddin Hossain College.

Police and local people said Mohabbat was riding home after dinner at his aunt's house in the Simakhali area of Shalikha upazila in Magura, having finished his business work. At around 9.30pm, at Gaidghat in Bagharpara, a jackal suddenly tried to cross the highway and the speeding motorcycle hit it. Mohabbat was thrown onto the road and seriously injured. Local people rescued him and admitted him to Jashore General Hospital. He died at around 1.30am on the way to Dhaka for better treatment.

Rezaul Islam, member for Ward 2 of Ichhali union in Jashore Sadar upazila, confirmed the death.

On Wednesday morning (1 July) he said: "In the accident the motorcyclist's lungs burst, and he was bleeding from his nose and mouth. He died on the way from Jashore to Dhaka for better treatment."

Bagharpara police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mahmudul Hasan said a young man named Mohabbat Hossain had been killed in a road accident.
