The Health Benefits of Eating Jamrul

Jamrul, a neglected summer fruit, carries vitamin C, calcium, fibre and plenty of water that support immunity, digestion and bone health.

Fruits

Jamrul is a very beneficial fruit, yet it is largely neglected beside the summer's mangoes, jackfruit and litchis. It is juicy but not especially tasty, which is perhaps why many people do not eat it.

Still, jamrul's nutritional value is as impressive as its looks and outdoes many other fruits. Here are the benefits it brings.

Immunity and blood sugar

According to experts, jamrul boosts the body's immunity. 100 grams of jamrul provides 22 micrograms of vitamin C, and every 100 grams also gives 29 milligrams of calcium, which is important for bones and teeth.

Jamrul contains jambosine, which helps keep in check the process by which starch is turned into sugar in the blood. For this reason doctors also advise diabetes patients to eat jamrul.

Digestion and cancer risk

Jamrul is high in fibre, which helps digestion and eases constipation. The juicy fruit also helps with weight loss.

The small fruit is also useful against cancer. Besides vitamins A and C, it has plenty of active compounds that help lower the risk of prostate and breast cancer.

Eating jamrul every day boosts immunity, and it also works well for stomach problems. The vitamin A in jamrul improves eye health too.

Bones, bloating and diarrhoea

Jamrul helps strengthen bones. The calcium it contains, about 29 milligrams per 100 grams, is essential for bone health.

In this hot season many people suffer from dehydration and bloating, and they can ease the problem simply by eating jamrul. According to experts, every 100 grams of jamrul contains 93 grams of water, which keeps the body hydrated and prevents dehydration. Jamrul also has enough dietary fibre to work especially well against bloating and diarrhoea.

Experts say seasonal fruits solve various physical problems, so you can eat your fill of jamrul in the heat. Even diabetes patients can eat this fruit without worry.
