A langur has wandered into a populated area of Madarganj in Jamalpur. It has been leaping about, sometimes in trees and sometimes on the roofs of houses, and curious crowds have gathered to see it.

On Saturday, 3 June, the langur was seen until evening at a house beside Jangalia Bazar in Jangalia village of Gunaritala union in the upazila. Local people believe it may have come looking for food.

Residents said they suddenly spotted the langur on Saturday morning. The shouting of villagers frightened the animal and it kept moving from place to place. Many filmed it and posted videos on social media to draw the attention of the authorities.

Local youth Rakibul Islam told Jago News that he saw the animal in the area until yesterday evening. He contacted several people to have it rescued but nobody responded, and he called on the forest department to look into the matter.

Manjurul Islam, divisional forest officer of the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division, told Jago News that the animal had strayed from its group into the village. If it is not fed for a few days, it will leave the place on its own.
