The Jagannath University (JnU) unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal held a tree-planting programme in memory of the martyrs of the July-August mass uprising.

On 22 July, Md Shahriar Hossain, joint convener of the unit, planted saplings of various trees on the university campus.

He said: "This tree-planting programme is not just an environmental initiative; it is a symbol of our respect and accountability to the martyrs. It is our moral duty to remember those who gave their lives to establish democracy and the rights of the people. As the bearer of that tradition, Chhatra Dal will always remain alert and active in movements and struggles."

Shamsul Arefin, member secretary of the unit, said: "The blood of the martyrs cannot go in vain. We hold their sacrifice in our spirit and want to spread it among the new generation through this tree-planting programme."

Mehedi Hasan Himel, convener of the unit, said: "The July-August mass uprising was a brave, glorious chapter for this country's freedom-loving students. We held this programme to pay tribute to the martyrs of that movement."
