A faction of the Jagannath University (JnU) unit of Chhatra Dal has distributed awareness leaflets and held a student outreach programme aimed at making the university green and environment-friendly, under the slogan "Green campus, healthy environment, bright future".

The programme was held on the university campus on Wednesday, 15 July, led by Md Mostafizur Rahman Rumi, second joint convener of JnU Chhatra Dal.

Speaking at the programme, Rumi said: "Through a long movement we have achieved a Bangladesh free of fascism. In that spirit, Jagannath University Chhatra Dal has been working from the start to build a student-friendly, safe and environment-friendly campus."

He added: "Building a clean, green, safe and student-friendly campus is the responsibility of all of us. An ideal learning environment can be ensured only through awareness, mutual cooperation and responsible behaviour. The tree-planting season is now under way, and we have tried to make students aware from our position."

Calling on students, he said: "Let us all together build an environment-friendly green campus. Let our pledge be a green campus, a safe campus and securing students' rights."

More than two hundred leaders, activists and general students took part in the programme.
