When the heat makes hot coffee unappealing, cold coffee can be made at home. Cook Mita Azhar gave Samakal four easy recipes using ingredients most kitchens already have.

Iced latte: dissolve one spoon of instant coffee in two spoons of hot water (in place of espresso) and add sugar if you like. Put four or five ice cubes in a tall glass and pour in a cup of cold milk. Pour the coffee slowly over the milk, stir lightly and serve.

Cold brown coffee: blend two tablespoons of coffee powder, four tablespoons of brown sugar and four tablespoons of lukewarm water for one to two minutes until frothy. Put chocolate syrup and eight to ten ice cubes in a glass, pour in the froth, then add three cups of cold milk and stir well.

Cold cappuccino: whisk two teaspoons of coffee powder, three teaspoons of sugar and two tablespoons of lukewarm water with a whisk, fork or beater for five to seven minutes until thick and creamy. Blend a glass of cold milk, crushed ice, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and three-quarters of the foam for a minute. Pour, top with the remaining foam and dust with cocoa powder or drizzle chocolate syrup.

Matcha cold coffee: whisk two teaspoons of matcha powder and two teaspoons of sugar with four tablespoons of hot water until smooth. Fill a glass with crushed ice, add a quarter cup of milk and a quarter cup of cream, then a shot of espresso or very strong coffee. Pour the matcha mixture on top to make layers, stir lightly and serve cold.
