With Ramadan approaching, muskmelon (bangi) is being imported from India through Hili land port in Dinajpur.

On Thursday (27 February), about 8 tonnes 700 kg of muskmelon entered the country through the land port on an Indian truck. A firm named Roshni Traders is importing the fruit.

Ohidul Rahman Ripon, a representative of the importer, said there is extra demand for various kinds of fruit in the country during Ramadan. With that in mind, muskmelon has been imported from India for the first time. The first consignment was 8 tonnes 700 kg, and the fruit will be supplied to the capital Dhaka and other parts of the country.
