Haripada Kapali (born 17 September 1922, died 6 July 2017) was a Bangladeshi farmer who developed Hari dhan. The new rice variety he developed in 1996 later became known by his name.

Noticing an unusual rice plant in his IRRI rice field, Haripada Kapali kept it separate. He collected its seed and grew the rice in his own field in 1992. Its cultivation later spread across the country.
