Quran study is bringing a positive change in how young pupils think, said Hafiz Maulana Masudul Kadir, principal of Iqra Bangladesh School Habiganj, at a Quran lesson ceremony held by the school on the morning of Monday, 5 October.
"At home we keep children glued to devices," he said. "But at school, with the Quran, our dear pupils are changing." A child who cannot do without a device for a moment, he said, is pledging at school not to touch one.
He urged parents to make home life faith-friendly for the sake of their children's future, and asked pupils, as they took their Quran lesson, also to resolve never to take a wrong path.
Speaking on the safety of women and children, he said a country where a child is not safe cannot be an ideal country, and that a person in whose company a child is unsafe has not truly become a human being even if he carries the title of a religious scholar. He called for strict enforcement of the law to bring such crimes to justice.
Maulana Sajidul Islam, Maulana Nazmul Hasan, Maulana Abdur Rauf Ashraf, Mufti Samil Ahmad Osman, Saiful Islam and Hafez Shahidul Islam Yusuf were among the special guests.
