A mobile court has jailed a bird hunter named Roni Ahmed in Bahubal, Habiganj.

He was detained on Sunday, 3 January, while selling birds at a place called Kalyanpur in Putijuri union of the upazila, and a large number of birds were seized from him. Roni Ahmed is the son of Mostafa Mia of Balidhara village in the upazila.

Executive Magistrate Sayed Mohammad Ibrahim, media officer of the district administration, said the mobile court detained Roni while he was selling birds at Kalyanpur and then sentenced him to one month in prison.

The court was run by Bahubal Upazila Nirbahi Officer Snigdha Talukder. The seized birds were later released.
