On the roof of a commercial and residential building, the Nazimuddin couple has built a huge garden. Its mix of flowers, fruit and foliage plants can inspire anyone. From the busy streets of Gulshan-2 only buildings are visible, but this rooftop farm shows farming is possible anywhere.

When love of plants turns a 25-katha roof into something like a natural forest, the owners must be called nature lovers. For ten years, Nazimuddin and his wife Shefali Begum have decorated the roof with flowers, fruit, medicinal plants and foliage.

Shefali Begum said she planted trees and built gardens whenever she had the chance; it is her hobby, and for ten years she has worked on the roof almost like a farmer. Her daughters have inherited this creativity and farm roofs abroad too.

For businessman Nazimuddin, the dense garden plays the role of a village. He walks there every morning to recharge. Most plants are flowers and foliage, with fruit and many medicinal plants among them.
