Farmers have now learned to make the best use of their fields. The supply of high-yielding seed is assured, and farmers produce with yield calculations in mind. Their awareness grows day by day, and rather than silently accepting losses, they are ready to secure good yields. Private seed companies are expanding their business to meet farmers' needs and are becoming accountable for delivering the right inputs.

In Prannagar, Birganj, Thakurgaon, the programme noticed a group of farmers holding a meeting in the field. They were doing group-based farming, working together by identifying each other's needs and problems.

They are sure of one thing: producing farm goods involves not just the farmer alone but many others, from seed and fertiliser suppliers, landowners and farm workers to the extension department, market management and consumers. So they have organised production collectively in groups and, based on everyone's views, drawn up a crop calendar.
