A huge python became entangled in a net in Gowainghat, Sylhet, and was caught by local people, who were preparing to kill it. Sylhet Superintendent of Police Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun heard of it and quickly sent Gowainghat police station officers to the scene. Thanks to the police's positive action, the python, more than seven feet long, was saved.

Assistant superintendent of district police Md Samrat Talukder confirmed the information to Jago News at 3.30pm on Sunday, 10 September.

He said that in the morning the huge python got caught in a fishing net on the bank of Ismail Ali's pond in Matikapa village, Birmangal haor, in Rustampur union under Gowainghat police station. On the orders of Sylhet SP Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, Gowainghat police reached the spot immediately and took the python into their custody. Md Abdul Malek then took the snake on behalf of the forest department, and in the afternoon the python was released into deep forest.
