When Timo Boldt was an energetic 26-year-old, he never had the chance to go to the supermarket.
Back in 2012, after long hours at the office, he wanted to come home to something easy to cook that also tasted good. "Even when I had time to cook, some food often went to waste. And sometimes I could not follow online recipes properly," Timo said.
He began thinking about how to solve his own food problem and make cooking simpler. When he started researching the idea, he saw that people as pressed for time as he was needed a company that would measure, cut and pack all the ingredients for a meal in advance in a box, with an easy recipe or instructions, and deliver that box to the customer's home.
Leaving the job
At that time, about seven years ago, there were only a few companies supplying such meal packs. One of them was Germany's HelloFresh.
Timo felt that demand for this kind of food would grow many times over. So one day he quit his job, went into the business of supplying such meals himself and set up his company, Gousto.
