Through 15 years of practice, Najma Akter Neela of Goran, Dhaka, has come to understand the many benefits of rooftop farming. To remove doubts about healthy, correct seedlings, she has started producing seedlings of various fruits and crops herself, and she is very hopeful about the spread of rooftop farming.
A rich garden on 2,500 sq ft
She began fifteen years ago, but in the past few years rooftop farming has become a multi-purpose, profitable venture for her. Her 2,500-square-foot roof is now a rich garden that meets many of her needs. Orchids share space with fruits and crops, and each arrangement reflects her own thinking.
Seedlings for new farmers
From long practice, she has realised that amid today's rooftop farming boom, doubts have arisen over correct seedlings, so she has taken steps to help new urban farmers. She believes that beyond its physical and mental benefits, rooftop farming can become an excellent source of income.
