The Forest Department has rescued two fishing cat cubs from a Napier grass field in Gauripur upazila of Mymensingh.

The cubs were rescued around noon on Saturday (19 March) from the Napier grass field of Mosharraf Hossain in the upazila's Lamapara village.

Locals said that when Mosharraf Hossain went to cut Napier grass for his cattle in the morning, he first spotted one fishing cat cub and caught it with the help of neighbours. A little later villagers caught a second cub and informed the Forest Department, and the upazila forest official rescued both.

Gauripur forest officer Lutfur Rahman told Jago News that they rescued the cubs after locals informed them, and that the cubs would be released at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur.

Gauripur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Hasan Maruf told Jago News that the Forest Department had rescued the two cubs and that it had been decided to release them at the safari park in Gazipur.
