A snake charmer named Majidul Islam, 40, died after being bitten by one of his pet snakes while giving a show in Gobindaganj, Gaibandha.

The incident happened on the afternoon of 2 September in the Rampura (Natun) bazar area of Harirampur union in the upazila. Majidul Islam was the son of the late Akalu Mia of Naobhanga village in the same union.

Locals said Majidul Islam had earned his living by giving snake shows for about 12 years. That afternoon he took his pet snakes in boxes to the Rampura area for a show. At one point he was badly bitten by one of the snakes. Locals rescued him and took him towards the upazila health complex, but he died on the way.

Harirampur union parishad chairman Md Azharul Islam Prodhan Biplob told Jagonews24 that a snake charmer named Majidul Islam had died while giving a show. "It is very sad," he said.

Md Shamsul Alam Shah, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gobindaganj police station, told Jagonews24 he had heard that a snake charmer had died of a snakebite during a show.
