Because of continuous rain and runoff from upstream, water is flowing above the danger level at six points on four of the country's rivers. With several other important rivers close to the warning level, the flood situation in the areas concerned may worsen further.

The Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre gave the information in its regular forecast on 11 July.

It said the Sangu, Kushiyara, Manu and Khowai had crossed the danger level at six stations. The Sangu was flowing 107 cm above the danger level at the Bandarban point and 19 cm above at Dohazari (Chattogram).

The Kushiyara was 17 cm above the danger level at Markuli in Sunamganj and 21 cm above at Fenchuganj in Sylhet.

The Manu was 38 cm above the danger level at the Moulvibazar point, and the Khowai was 1 cm above at the Ballah point in Habiganj.

According to the centre, water was rising at 57 of the country's 127 gauging stations, falling at 64 and unchanged at six. Several stations on the Teesta, Kushiyara, Surma, Someshwari, Muhuri and Matamuhuri were at the warning level.
