George Guntonas, a citizen of Greece, came to Canada 50 years ago and settled in Scarborough, Toronto, 16 years ago. That is when he met his Bangladeshi neighbour, Zahid Hossain.
Inspired by a neighbour
Watching Zahid Hossain's yard farming, George was also inspired to farm. He now grows tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, peppers, aubergine, lettuce, yardlong beans, garlic, celery, Jamaican amaranth and many other vegetables and salad crops.
He says he has long liked the creativity of farming, which he can now practise thanks to his neighbour's inspiration.
