Natore Sadar police have rescued two fishing cat cubs after a call to the national emergency service 999 and handed them over to the Forest Department.

Anwar Sattar, an inspector at 999, gave the information to Jago News on Monday (24 May).

He said a caller named Rabiul rang 999 on Sunday evening from Pachanipara in Ward 7 under Natore Sadar police station and reported that two fishing cat cubs had been found in an open space beside his house. Some local people wanted to buy the cubs and take them away, but the caller wanted them handed to the Forest Department. 999 immediately informed Natore Sadar police station and asked it to act quickly.

A team from Natore Sadar police station went to the spot, and the assistant commissioner (land) of Natore Sadar upazila also arrived after being informed by the police station.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Shahjahan Ali of Natore Sadar police station later told 999 that they had rescued the two cubs and handed them to Forest Department staff.

The cubs were later released into the forest under the Forest Department's management.
