Mobile courts have conducted drives in Feni to keep highways free of animal markets, ensure orderly management of sacrificial animal markets and maintain law and order. Four people were fined a total of Tk 70,000.

The drives were conducted at various animal markets in Feni Sadar, Daganbhuiyan, Chhagalnaiya and Sonagazi on Friday, 14 June.

According to mobile court sources, senior assistant commissioner and executive magistrate Pudam Pushpa Chakma conducted a drive at the Baligaon Sundarpur temporary animal market in Feni Sadar upazila and fined one person Tk 15,000 for breaking the law.

Assistant commissioner (land) and executive magistrate Sajib Talukder led a drive at Hajir Bazar in Kalidah, where one person was fined Tk 50,000. In Chhagalnaiya upazila, assistant commissioner (land) and executive magistrate Shibu Das led a drive and one person was fined Tk 2,000.

In Sonagazi upazila, assistant commissioner (land) and executive magistrate Tania Akter Lubna led a drive and one person was fined Tk 3,000. In all, four people were fined Tk 70,000 in drives across the district that day.

District administration sources said regular drives will be conducted to keep highways free of animal markets and ensure orderly sacrificial animal markets.
