A 24-year-old man in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, has claimed that he has been bitten by a snake at least seven times in the past 40 days. The young man's name is Vikas Dubey.

The local medical officer, Rajiv Nayan Giri, said the young man had also asked the authorities for financial help.

He said the victim came to the collectorate office and wept as he asked for money. He claims he has already spent a lot on treatment for the snakebites, so he now wants financial help from the authorities.

Rajiv advised him to go to a government hospital, where anti-venom is available free of charge.

The medical officer also said it was very strange for someone to be bitten by a snake every Saturday. "We first need to look into whether what is biting him is a snake at all," he said. After each Saturday bite he is admitted to the same hospital and recovers within a day.

Rajiv Nayan Giri said a committee of three doctors had been formed to investigate. The real facts can be given once the investigation is over.
