A woman Union Parishad (UP) member, Kakon Shikder Kanon, 34, has died of a snakebite in Faridpur. The incident happened on the afternoon of Sunday, 30 July, in Char Bishnupur union of Sadarpur upazila.

Kakon Shikder was the member for reserved wards 1, 2 and 3 of Char Bishnupur Union Parishad.

Char Bishnupur union chairman Moazzem Hossain told Jagonews that Kakon Shikder went to work in her kitchen at home in the afternoon and was bitten by a snake. Locals rushed her to Sadarpur Upazila Health Complex. From there she was taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital in Faridpur, where the doctor on duty declared her dead.
