The forest department has rescued a rare turtle in Faridpur. The turtle was recovered on Sunday (22 August) from the Bishwas Dangi (Ambikapur) area of Sadar upazila.

Locals said a young man named Riad from Ambikapur village cast a net to catch fish in the floodwater, and at one point the rare yellow turtle was caught in it. The Faridpur district social forestry department later got the news and rescued the turtle.

Faridpur divisional social forest officer Md Kabir Hossain Patwari said the turtle is of an entirely new species. The Khulna divisional wildlife officer has been informed, and a decision will be taken when they arrive, he said.
