A teenager named Amarjit Mondal, 15, died of a snakebite in Alfadanga, Faridpur. The incident happened at about 2am on the night of Thursday 31 August at Helencha Kathurakandi village in Bana union of the upazila.

Amarjit Mondal was the son of Shambhu Mondal of Murarikathi village in Ashashuni upazila of Satkhira. His parents work as labourers at Messrs Taki Bricks Field.

His mother, Aparajita Mondal, said a snake bit her son while he was asleep at about 2am. After they noticed, he was given first aid locally and brought to the upazila health complex at about 4.30am, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Dr Md Shafiqul Islam, assistant surgeon at Alfadanga upazila health complex, said the boy was brought to hospital at dawn, but he had died before being brought in.

Dr Fariha Masfika Malek, resident medical officer (RMO) of the upazila health complex, told Jagonews24 that the teenager died from the bite of a venomous snake.
