A housewife named Ayesha Begum, 25, has died after being bitten by a venomous snake in Dumki upazila of Patuakhali.

The incident happened at about 3pm on Tuesday (4 July) in the Lalkha bridge area of ward 2 in Sreerampur union of the upazila.

Ayesha was the daughter of Malek Pahlan of Sreerampur union and the wife of Mokhlesur Rahman, son of Habib Gazi of the same area.

Her brother-in-law Arif Hossain said that on Tuesday afternoon, as Ayesha was taking rice to her husband, a venomous snake hiding in a hole bit her. She screamed and collapsed on the ground at once. Family members took her to the Dumki upazila health complex, where the doctor on duty declared her dead.

Dumki police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Abul Bashar called the incident sad and said the woman's body had been buried by her family.
