Today is World Environment Day. To mark the day, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has instructed all educational institutions across the country to take up and carry out tree-planting programmes on Wednesday (5 June).

The information was given in a DSHE letter on Tuesday (4 June).

The letter says that, in line with the national programme on Wednesday, all educational institutions under the directorate are requested, as directed, to take the necessary steps to take up and carry out planned tree-planting programmes.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has issued a message on the National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair.

In her message she said she was glad to know that, as every year, the National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair 2024 is being held. She said she considered this year's theme, "Let us decorate the country with trees, Bangladesh will prosper", very logical and timely.
