A fruit festival was held at the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU). It ran from 11am to 1pm on Wednesday (16 July).

The festival, a lively spread of tasty, juicy fruit, was held in the DRU's Shafiqul Kabir auditorium.

It was jointly opened by former DRU president Shahjahan Sardar, M Shafiqul Karim, Sakhawat Hossain Badsha, Shahed Chowdhury, Rafiqul Islam Azad and former general secretary Monir Hossain Liton.

Guests included Fakhrul Islam, managing director of the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), which supported the festival, and Al Mamun Mridha, former general secretary of the Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

DRU president Abu Saleh Akon presided and general secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel moderated. Festival convener and organising secretary Abdul Hai Tuhin gave the welcome address, and vice-president Gazi Anwar also spoke. Welfare secretary Rafiq Mridha was the festival's member secretary.

Also present were members of the DRU executive committee including joint secretary Nadia Sharmin, women's affairs secretary Rozina Rozy, IT and training secretary Borhan Uddin, cultural secretary Emdadul Haque Khan, and executive members Junayed Hossain (Junayed Shishir), Aktaruzzaman, Aminul Haque Bhuiyan, Faruk Alam and Suman Chowdhury, along with members of the organisation.
