The much-discussed albino buffalo 'Donald Trump', sold for sacrifice at the coming Eid-ul-Azha, will no longer be sacrificed. Following the intervention of Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, the buyer's money was refunded and the buffalo was taken to Keraniganj police station in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon. From there it will be taken to the National Zoo in Mirpur to be looked after.

Earlier, the owners of Rabeya Agro Farm had given the buffalo, which went viral around the world, a royal send-off. When the buyer came to collect it on Monday evening, it was bid farewell on a red carpet.

From midday, workers at Rabeya Agro Farm in Paikpara, Narayanganj town, bathed the buffalo and prepared its farewell. It was then dressed in regal clothing and walked along a red carpet amid clouds of coloured smoke. The farm's owners and others present became emotional as they said goodbye.

The buffalo's hair and eyes look much like Donald Trump's, which is why the younger brother of farm owner Ziauddin Mridha affectionately named it 'Trump'.

When media outlets reported on the buffalo ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, it quickly became a talking point. The buffalo then drew wide interest beyond the country, and almost all the major international media ran reports on it.
