A venomous cobra has been caught at a home in the Uposhohor area of Dinajpur town.
The snake was caught at around 9.30am on Friday 24 November during renovation of the home of teacher Rashidul Hasan Kochi at the Diabetic Hospital crossing in Block 10 of Uposhohor. It was then kept in a jar.
Rashidul Hasan said the snake would be handed over to the livestock office or the forest department in Dinajpur on Saturday 25 November.
Calls to 999 went unanswered
Teacher Rashidul Hasan Kochi said he saw the snake while cleaning inside the house ahead of renovation work. He and his son Tanzirul Hasan Abir then skilfully caught it with a stick and put it in a plastic jar.
He said he called 999 to decide what to do with the snake and was given three mobile numbers, but when he tried them he could not reach anyone on any of the three.
If he could not reach anyone by Saturday morning, he said, he would take the snake to the livestock or forest department office himself.
