Indian agri-input company Dhanuka Agritech has launched Polin, a fungicide for leaf and neck blast of rice developed through a technical collaboration with Japan's Nippon Soda Co. (NISSO), Krishi Jagran reports.

The company says Polin, based on KINIPROL Technology, brings a new DHODHI mode of action classified under FRAC group 52. It moves both translaminarly and systemically, reaching unsprayed parts of the leaf and new growth.

The recommended dose is 100 ml per acre in 200 litres of water, applied at the first sign of infection during critical growth stages. Dhanuka says its long residual control extends the protection window and so cuts the number of sprays, lowering labour and chemical costs.

Polin is being launched in parts of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, where the company has begun awareness drives among paddy farmers on managing leaf and neck blast.

"With Polin we are delivering patented Japanese chemistry with a completely new mode of action for control of rice blast," said managing director Rahul Dhanuka, adding that more products would follow in the coming months. The claims are the company's own.
