An elderly woman named Tohiron Nesa, 65, has died of a snakebite in Dhamrai, Dhaka. It could not be confirmed what kind of snake bit her.

The incident took place on Thursday morning (20 June) in Kacha Rajapur village of Amta union in the upazila. Tohiron Nesa was a resident of the area.

Her family said she was grinding ginger and garlic on Thursday morning for her granddaughter's wedding when a snake came out of a nearby bush and bit her on the leg. She died on the way to hospital for treatment.

Abdul Alim, union parishad member for Amta union, said she was bitten while working at home. The family believes a venomous cobra bit her, but they are not sure of the type of snake.

Union parishad chairman Arif Hossain said it was certain that she died of a snakebite, and that she died before she could be taken to hospital.
