Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has collected Tk 177,500 in fines in 28 cases after Aedes mosquito larvae were found at homes in several areas. DNCC executive magistrates ran the drives on Sunday as part of a three-month mosquito control campaign, Dainik Bangla reports.
Mobile courts in Mirpur-10, Rupnagar, North Pallabi, Agargaon, Uttara, Nikunja and Baridhara were led by executive magistrates Atish Darshi Chakma, S M Rasel Islam Noor, Shariful Alam Tanvir, Pramatha Ranjan Ghatak and Dedarul Islam.
Under the three-month programme announced on National Dengue Prevention Day, DNCC health staff will visit homes to inspect breeding sites. The work includes source reduction, larviciding, inspecting rooftop gardens, public announcements, applying novaluron tablets, distributing leaflets and involving students in dengue awareness.
