Dhaka's air was 'unhealthy' on Wednesday morning (30 September), according to the air-quality technology company IQAir. With an AQI score of 152, the capital ranked joint seventh with Delhi among the world's cities with the most polluted air, Bangla Tribune reports.
Kolkata topped the list with 182, followed by Kuala Lumpur (172), Kampala (163), Singapore (162), Lahore (158) and Doha (156). After Dhaka and Delhi came Phnom Penh at 151 in ninth place and Dubai at 148 in tenth.
An AQI between 151 and 200 is classed as unhealthy. Health experts advise sensitive people, especially children, older people and asthma patients, not to stay outdoors for long at such times.
On Tuesday morning Dhaka's AQI was 162 and the city ranked sixth, Protidiner Bangladesh reported, citing UNB. The capital's air usually worsens as the monsoon ends and winter approaches.
