Six more people died of dengue in the 24 hours to 8am on Saturday, two of them in the Dhaka South City Corporation area, and 1,608 patients were admitted to hospital, the Directorate General of Health Services said in its regular bulletin.
That takes this year's dengue deaths to 249. September alone accounted for 148, against 43 in August, 36 in July, 13 in June, one in May and two each in January and February.
Hospital admissions this year now total 84,369. In the same 24 hours, 1,621 patients were discharged, and 78,482 have recovered and gone home so far this year.
Dhaka division had the most new admissions, 525, followed by Chattogram with 319, Khulna 276, Barishal 215, Rajshahi 132, Mymensingh 79 and Rangpur 62.
