A dead shark has been found hanging outside Ponte Vedra High School in the US state of Florida, according to a report by NDTV.
Several students at the school were frightened after seeing the shark. They took photographs of it and sent them to local media. A student who spoke on condition of anonymity said a senior student had hung the shark there as a prank.
Officials investigate
Officials of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWCC) said a group of five students from the school hung the shark there on Wednesday.
Jim Gelsleichter, director of the coastal and marine biology flagship programme at the University of North Florida, said it could be a sandbar shark.
Marine fisheries biologists at the FWCC are working to identify the shark's species, studying the photographs taken by the students.
