A mobile court has sentenced a young man named Raihan Biswas, 26, to one month's simple imprisonment for setting traps to catch migratory birds in Dakop upazila of Khulna. His bird-trapping equipment was seized.

The mobile court was conducted on Sunday afternoon (6 November) by Mintu Biswas, upazila nirbahi officer and executive magistrate.

According to the mobile court, Raihan Biswas, son of Shahidul Biswas of Batbunia village in Tildanga union, went into a beel near the Kaminibasia police outpost to catch birds. Acting on this information, a drive was launched at around 11am led by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ratan Hossain of the police outpost.

Raihan was caught red-handed inside the beel with a migratory bird (kalatiti) and bird-catching gear. A mobile court was then held and he was sentenced.
